Vanilla Arts Company is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you use our website VanillaArts.com (the “Site”). Please note that we may update this policy from time to time.

Our Privacy Promise:

Who are we?

Vanilla Arts Company and VanillaArts.com is a team of art educators and support staff headed up by Amy Shulke in Lake Orion, Michigan; USA.

VanillaArts.com uses the data and information it collects about you in the following ways:

  • To contact you regarding purchases or agreements that you may have with VanillaArts.com, including online or offline services and events
  • To provide you with special offers, advertising campaigns, or newsletters. You may opt out of any email communications at any time by unsubscribing at the bottom of any email
  • To provide you with information associated with your account
  • To contact you regarding information about our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  • To analyze course interaction and access
  • To diagnose problems
  • To prevent fraud

Comments and Discussion Forums:

We store the personal information voluntarily provided by registered users in their user profile. 

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can see and edit this information by request.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and their web browser. This helps to prevent spam. The comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely to allow the system to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. 

Contact forms

Your form entries are stored in our private database. We do not share the information submitted through contact forms with any outside parties.

Email

We use an automated system to send shop and class/course transactional emails. The sender line will always be VanillaArts.com. Transactional emails may include course login information, password resets, order verification, order cancellation, order refund, and shipping confirmation. You can not unsubscribe from transactional emails because there is no mailing list. A transactional email will only come to your inbox if you have triggered one of the areas above.

If you choose to receive optional Vanilla Arts Company email updates, Vanilla Beans weekly newsletters, or opt-in incentives/downloads, your email address will be stored in our private Convert Kit newsletter system. Convert Kit is a third-party data processor and your account information is restricted to the Vanilla Arts team only. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time by selecting the “unsubscribe” option at the bottom of any email.

Cookies

It is important to understand that you control your cookies through your web browser settings.

A cookie is a piece of code that allows our web server to identify and track the activity of your web browser. Cookies make your site experience faster and smoother. 

If you disable these cookies then some features of our website will not work properly for you.

VanillaArts.com uses two types of cookies. Session Cookies are deleted from your computer when you close your browser. Persistent Cookies remain stored on your computer until deleted by you or they reach a specified expiration date. 

When you create an account at VanillaArts.com, we use cookies for general administration. These cookies will usually be deleted when you log out but in some cases they may remain to remember your site preferences when you return.

We use cookies while you are logged into VanillaArts.com. This prevents you from having to log in on every single page you visit. These temporary cookies are deleted when you log out.

This site uses shopping cart cookies to ensure that your order is remembered as you move between pages.

When you submit data to a form, project gallery, or comment thread, cookies may be set to remember your user details and notify you of follow-up comments and instructor critiques.

Third Party Cookies: 

VanillaArts.com uses Google Analytics to collect anonymous format information including the visitor totals, the site visitors originate from, and the pages they visit. We use this information to optimize site visibility and to improve your user experience.  

We may use tracking from YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram to track the effectiveness of our website and social media advertisements.

This data is all anonymized. You can opt out of this tracking at anytime via your own browser settings.

Shop

We use WooCommerce for our shop. WooCommerce does not receive or store usage data.

Members of the VanillaArts.com team have access to the shopping information you provide. This information is used to fulfill orders, process refunds, and support your VanillaArts.com experience. 

Data collected by our website shop:

  • Products you’ve viewed
  • Cart contents
  • IP address- used to estimate taxes, shipping, logistics

When you purchase an item, you will be asked to provide your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We use this information to:

  • Process your payment and prevent fraud
  • Send order confirmation
  • Comply with legal obligations and calculate taxes

We store shopping data for the minimum amount of processing time unless required by law.

Payments

We accept payments through Stripe and PayPal. During payment process, some of your data will be passed to Stripe or PayPal, including information required to finalize the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

LearnDash (Learning Management System)

We use LearnDash to deliver online class/course materials. Data collected and stored through LearnDash includes:

  • Course progress and completion status
  • Discussion board comments and assignments if you choose to submit them
  • We store project photograph (.jpg) files in public gallery areas when you choose to submit them

Data Control and Rights:

You may update, correct or delete the information you have provided by logging into your VanillaArts.com account settings. 

You may request that we erase your account plus any contact information we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. 

Please note: If you request account be erased, it is not restorable. This would include but not be limited to your memberships to any of our courses, workshops, and shop orders. 

You may unsubscribe from promotional or marketing emails at any time by using the “unsubscribe” link in the email received.

VanillaArts.com reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Should we change the Privacy Policy in a material way, a notice will be posted on our website along with the updated Privacy Policy. If you disagree with the changes, you may terminate your services. No refunds will given due to changes in our Terms of Service or our Privacy Policy.
